For the eighth year Trieste hosts the local selection of FameLab, the international competition challenging young scientists with the talent of communication to tell in just 3 minutes the object of his or her study, or a scientific topic they are interested in.

No slide shows, graphs, videos: only a fistful of words and a talent for communication are required, to spread to the public the charm of scientific research, in a a way that is amusing and easy to understand.

The best performers will win a cash prize and will have the chance to participate in a Masterclass on science communication, as well as to enter the international competition.

FameLab was launched in 2005 in the UK by Cheltenham Science Festival. The event is promoted at an international level by British Council, in over 30 different countries. In Italy the competition is organized by Psiquadro Perugia, in collaboration with British Council Italia. FameLab Italia has an initial local stage in 12 Italian cities: Ancona, Bari, Catania, Florence, Foggia, Genoa, L’Aquila, Lecce, Milan, Pavia, Perugia e Trieste.

FameLab Trieste will take place on February 20th 2020 , at 9 a.m. at the Teatro Miela. It is organized by Immaginario Scientifico, University of Trieste, University of Udine, SISSA-The International School for Advanced Studies and the Municipality of Trieste, within the Memorandum of Understanding "Trieste City of Knowledge".

FameLab Trieste 2020 is also an event towards ESOF2020 - Trieste European City of Science.
