On Friday 18 December Pietro Greco left us suddenly. Scientific journalist, essayist, man of exceptional culture, he was able to tell us about the present and the past with his unique voice. Starting from science, he explored other territories, such as literature, philosophy, history, arts, with incredible curiosity, passion and talent.
His collaboration with SISSA was long and important. It started almost thirty years ago as Pietro one of the founders of the Master's Course in Science Communication, of which he was also director and teacher. Hundreds of students had the good fortune to meet him, to follow his precious lessons, to know his human qualities, to work with him.
Pietro Greco was the custodian of a profound knowledge, which he shared with those who wanted to listen to him on the radio, who read his writings, attended his conferences or took part in his countless projects. Just to name a few, Pietro was one of the speakers of Radio3Scienza, one of the partners of Zadig agency, among the founders of the IDIS-Città della Scienza di Napoli Foundation, television author, advisor to the Minister of University and Research in the 2000s, co-director of Scienza in Rete, member of the board Scientific Institute of the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA). And, again, director of the magazine Scienza & Società, of the Bocconi University of Milan and of Bo Live, the magazine of the University of Padua.
Pietro Greco was a maestro, a companion on splendid intellectual journeys, a passionate colleague, a friend. We all will terribly miss his commitment, his vision, his guidance. Ciao Pietro.
