SISSA, in the framework of the agreement signed with Chiesi Farmaceutici and National Research Council, announces a selection for the conferment of a fellowship to follow a PhD course in Theory and Numerical Simulation of the Condensed Matter entitled “Modeling and simulation of fluid-particle interaction in multi-phase systems out of equilibrium”.

Multi-phase flow simulations, where fluids transport dispersed solid particles, are fundamental for the understanding, designing and optimization of state-of-the-art industrial applications and products. The aim of the thesis is to exploit coupled computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and discrete element method (DEM) to unravel the physics of dispersion/aerosolization of powders in confined geometries. Part of the research activity, coordinated in collaboration with Chiesi Farmaceutici, could be directly carried out at their R&D Labs.

The call is open until 31st of July. Apply here
