The Consortium is aimed at extending the benefits of digital technologies to the main areas of specialization in the Triveneto area (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto and the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano), thus creating a widespread network in the North-East capable of enhancing digital technologies in the industrial-manufacturing, agriculture, sea, mountains, construction, tourism, culture, health and food sectors.
The Consortium consists of 11 founding members, 9 universities and two institutions: University of Padua (Proposing founding body), University of Verona, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, IUAV of Venice, University of Trento, University of Bolzano, University of Udine, University of Trieste, SISSA of Trieste, the National Research Council (CNR) and the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS).
SISSA coordinates the ninth "spoke" dedicated to digital twins, with the participation of the University of Trieste, the University of Padua and OGS. The contribution will be provided, in particular, by SISSA’s mathematical area, through the development of models, methods and computational technologies for the creation of digital twins, which represent the last step of the digital revolution. These virtual models, which thanks to their versatility allow to study even very complex systems, such as a naval port or a city, will be applied to the different ecosystems of iNest, favoring interconnection and sustainable development of the peculiarities of the territories.
The Director of SISSA, Prof. Andrea Romanino, comments: "The Consortium represents a virtuous example of collaboration throughout the North-East.
