Visual Identity FAQs

• I need the logo for printed materials. Which version should I use?
For any print use, use the vector version of the logo (.pdf) available in the Media section. For on-screen use, raster versions are available (e.g., PNG). SISSA's Communication Office (pressoffice@sissa.it) can provide the logos in both RGB and CMYK versions upon request.

• Can I change the colour of the logo?
No. The logo must be used only in the approved colour versions and without alterations. “Ad hoc” colour changes are not allowed, nor are grayscale applications or multicolour solutions. Use the correct variant depending on background and contrast (avoid black on dark backgrounds and avoid white on light backgrounds).

• Can I create a variant or a derived logo for my research project, spin-off, or lab website?
No. SISSA marks are unitary elements and may not be modified: it is not permitted to create derived logos, reinterpretations, or new versions for projects. Any non-standard needs (including co-branding solutions or specific adaptations) require review and approval by the Communication Office (pressoffice@sissa.it).

• In graphic materials, if the institutional font is not supported or available, which typeface should I use?
If the institutional font (SUISSE) is not available, use Arial. On macOS, Helvetica is also acceptable.

• I need to place the SISSA logo in a horizontal space, but the full logo is too tall. What should I use?
You may use the logo without the seal except in institutional communications, where the full official logo must be used. Do not place the seal next to the SISSA logo, and do not use the seal on its own. See also page 10 of the visual identity guidelines for clarification on the elements that make up the logo and when they can be used separately.

• I need to include the SISSA logo as a small marker. What is the minimum legible size?
For the logo: minimum width 8 mm. Always maintain the clear space (safe space) around the mark to ensure legibility and recognisability.
