Corannulene is a carbon molecule with a unique shape (similar to the better known fullerene) and promising properties. A team of scientists from SISSA and the University of Zurich carried out computer simulations of the molecule’s properties and discovered that it might help overcome the difficulties building molecular circuits (i.e., of the size of molecules). The study has just been published in Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics.
Il corannulene è una molecola di carbonio dalla forma singolare (simile al più famoso fullerene) e dalle proprietà promettenti. Un team della SISSA e dell’Università di Zurigo ha simulato al computer le proprietà di questa molecola, scoprendo che potrebbe aiutare a superare le difficoltà che oggi si hanno nel costruire circuiti molecolari (nella dimensione cioè delle molecole). La ricerca è stata pubblicata su Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics.
