Stefano Liberati, SISSA’s Physics Area Coordinator, has been elected President of the Società Italiana di Relatività Generale e Fisica della Gravitazione (i.e. Italian Society of General Relativity and Gravitational Physics). SIGRAV is a non-profit scientific association founded in 1990 with the aim of bringing together the various activities in gravitational physics, from theory to observation and revelation. SIGRAV members thus include experts of Classical and Quantum Gravity, of Astrophysics and Cosmology, and of Experimental Gravity.
“The elections that have just been held represent a positive turning point for our society, both for the unprecedented participation and for the open discussion that characterized them. I thank all the members for this” commented Liberati.
Currently a member of the Directive Committee, Liberati will officially take office from next September. “Very important years await us for the development of research in gravitational physics in connection with both fundamental physics issues and future experiments and astrophysical and cosmological observations. In this sense, it is important for the Society to play an increasingly active role in supporting the development of our national community committed to these issues over the next few years” concluded Liberati.
