The SISSA Opening Ceremony

On Friday, November 10, 2023, SISSA will celebrate the start of the new academic year. The opening ceremony will be held in the Aula Magna from 11 am and will be an opportunity to give a warm welcome to the School's new students.

Distinguished guest speaker Michele Vendruscolo, Professor of Biophysics at the University of Cambridge, will give the Lectio Magistralis titled ‘Towards a Cure for Alzheimer’s Disease’.

The ceremony will also be the occasion to award the Lutman Prizes for the best PhD thesis in Mathematics and the best Master's thesis in Science Communication, as well as the prizes for the best theses in Physics and Neuroscience.

The event will conclude with the theatrical performance “Parl-IA-moci” by Diana Höbel.

Simultaneous translation will be provided.
