Galaxy from the 'teenage' universe reveals its water map for the 1st time

The galaxy, J1135, is located 12 billion light-years away and is seen as it was less than 2 billion years after the Big Bang. For the first time, scientists managed to develop a map of water distribution in a galaxy that existed when the 13.8-billion-year-old universe was just a cosmic teenager. The galaxy, designated J1135, is located around 12 billion light-years from Earth and is therefore seen as it was less than 2 billion years after the Big Bang J1135's water map, created as part of a Scuola InternazionaleSuperiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) study conducted by the Galaxy Observational and Theoretical Astrophysics (GOThA) team.
