On 14 February at 6 p.m. at the Antico Caffè San Marco will be held the event "Il mare non è un luogo silenzioso" (The sea is not a silent place), organised by Area Science Park, ICTP, Rai FVG and SISSA. The meeting will be an opportunity to discover and learn about marine sounds - both natural and those caused by human activities - and the impact that noise pollution has on the flora and fauna living in the seas and oceans.

The voices and sounds of the sea will be narrated by Marta Picciulin, researcher at the Institute of Marine Sciences-CNR in Venice and collaborator of the Area Marina Protetta di Miramare, who will take us on a small sound journey in the Gulf of Trieste.

During the meeting will be presented "Alla ricerca - storie di scienza e innovazione dei laboratori del Friuli Venezia Giulia", a series of six podcasts written by Pierluigi Masai and Gioele Lecquio, students of the Master in Science Communication "Franco Prattico" at SISSA, and curated by Riccardo Cicconetti, multimedia programmer at Rai FVG. The podcast tells the story of basic research and how it can help find solutions in terms of sustainability. All this is done by going "alla ricerca" (i.e., re-searching), collecting the testimonies of researchers in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, so as to show the variety and multidisciplinarity that characterises research in the region.

The participation is free, no registration is required.
