SISSA, Leader of Spoke 9 of the iNEST- Interconnected North-East Innovation Ecosystem network dedicated to the development of models and methods for the realisation of digital twins, has published the calls for proposals intended to finance research and innovation activities carried out by companies and enterprises in the territories of the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia Regions, the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano, and the Mezzogiorno. All documents related to the calls are published on the iNEST Consortium website at: https://www.consorzioinest.it/bandi/bandi-spoke-9/

These calls for proposals are part of the action carried out by the iNEST Consortium to promote and support the application of the most advanced digital technologies for the main areas of specialisation in the Triveneto (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano), thus creating in the North-East a capillary network of innovative skills in the industrial-manufacturing, agriculture, sea, mountains, construction, tourism, culture, health and food sectors.

The calls issued by SISSA, worth EUR 2,000,000 for the Triveneto and EUR 600,000 for the Mezzogiorno, respectively, concern in particular project proposals dedicated to the creation of digital twin prototypes in various scenarios, such as industrial processes and products, infrastructures, natural environments, complex intelligent systems (ports, cities, transport systems), health, and economic activities.

According to Prof. Gianluigi Rozza, in charge of Spoke 9, “The theme of the digital twin in a more established context, such as industry, or in new and less usual contexts (infrastructure, services, environment, community) is intended to be a catalyst for innovation in a competitive ecosystem, which must accelerate the technology transfer of modern, machine-learning algorithms and all developments in computing and data science for the simulation, optimisation and control of complex situations.”

Like SISSA, all other universities participating in the iNEST Consortium have issued their own calls for proposals, related to the Spoke they lead. All calls can be consulted on the iNEST Consortium website at www.consorzioinest.it/bandi. A Call Platform, specially created by iNEST, will be available for the submission process in the last week of August at: https://www.bandiconsorzioinest.it/.

The deadline for submission has been extended to 31 October 2023 at midnight. Applications must be submitted to the iNEST Consortium via the dedicated platform at: https://www.bandiconsorzioinest.it/.

For more details on the calls check the videos available here for the Triveneto and here for the Mezzogiorno (in Italian only).
