Accademia delle Scienze di Torino - Awards 2024

Applications are now open for the prizes awarded by the Accademia delle Scienze of Turin for the year 2024.

The Gili Agostinelli Award, with a value of €10,000, is designated this year to honor a scholar who has particularly distinguished themselves in the field of Pure or Applied Mechanics, or Classical Mathematical Physics. Proposals can be submitted by members of the Physical, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences Class of the Accademia della Scienze of Turin, Presidents of major Italian and foreign academies, Directors of relevant departments at Italian universities, and by the Board of Directors of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Nominations, accompanied by brief information about the nominated scholar and, in particular, their recent scientific activities, must be submitted by March 31, 2024. Proposals can relate to a single work or discovery, or to the overall career of the nominated scholar.

The Panetti Ferrari Award and Medal, also valued at €10,000, is intended for a "living scientist who has particularly distinguished themselves in research in the field of Applied Mechanics (broadly defined) conducted in the decade preceding the date of the award." Proposals can be submitted by members of the Physical, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences Class, Presidents of major scientific academies and cultural institutions in Italy and abroad, as well as Directors of Engineering Departments at Italian universities. Nominations, accompanied by the respective motivation, must be submitted by April 15, 2024.
