    Abstract:
Given a measurable function f (with values into R or into Z), I will present various conditions on f which imply that f is constant. They are closely connected to various new techniques of approximation for Sobolev and BV norms by nonlocal functionals. Sometimes the Gamma convergence illuminates the situation but also introduces mysterious novelties. Potential applications to Image Processing will be discussed.
