Group Seminar

Coming to give a seminar at SISSA? Please refer to our speaker's page.

The 'Group Seminar' is a regular appointment of the Theoretical Particle Physics group. It usually takes place on Wednesday at 4pm in room 005 (ground floor) or in the Lecture Hall 137 (first floor). The seminars typically last for 50 minutes leaving time for questions and discussion.

You can find the list of seminars scheduled in the week in the calendar and the complete list of seminar in the Group Seminar history.

S-matrix Bootstrap: bridging theory and phenomenology

The space of relativistic scattering amplitudes is tightly constrained by general principles such as causality, unitarity, and analyticity. The S-matrix Bootstrap program aims to characterize this space directly, without reference to a specific Lagrangian, by exploiting these constraints using modern and powerful tools from convex optimization. In this talk, I will discuss two applications of this approach to particle physics. First, I will show how combining analytic methods with numerical bootstrap techniques allows one to upgrade the asymptotic Froissart bound into a quantitative, model-independent bound that is valid at all energies. Second, I will illustrate how incorporating experimental data into the bootstrap framework makes it possible to reproduce the known QCD spectrum and provides evidence for an unexpected tetraquark state, currently under investigation by the LHCb collaboration.
