V Avogadro Meeting on
|
By airplane
Trieste has its own international airport situated in
Ronchi
dei Legionari.
The Airport is 20 min. by car
from SISSA and 40 min. from Trieste. It is linked to the town by a bus that runs on a
schedule based on the main flights. This bus has as terminals the Airport and the
Central Railway Station in Trieste.
Venice is not so far, and it is thus possible to fly to
Venice and then
reach Trieste by train.
By train
Trieste has one main railway station, Trieste Centrale, which is in the center of
the town.
To check schedules and timetables, you can use the web sites from
Italian railways (F.S.)
or from
German railways.
A map of the area will give you an
overview of the various locations.
By airplane
To get to Miramare campus (where also the Galileo Guest House is located) if you
arrive in Trieste by plane, you can take the APT coach service to Grignano - Line 51.
Tickets (cost 2.35 Euro) are available from the blue machine just beyond the arrivals
gate (APT
timetable). Ask the driver to stop at the 'centro di fisica', and once you have left
the coach continue walking through the tunnels to find SISSA on your left (just after
ICTP). Alternatively, you can take a Taxi (cost is around 45 Euro with a surcharge for
luggage).
By train
If you arrive in Trieste by train, you will need to reach SISSA from downtown Trieste by
taxi or bus (number 36). The bus stop
is just in front of the railway station and the bus (direction Grignano) runs
approximately every 20 min. If you want to reach Galileo Guest House just drop-off at
at the bus stop which is just after the two short tunnels (this is the last bus stop
before Grignano). Walk back through the tunnels and follow the indications.
The main entrance is at Via Beirut 2. See the map.
Bus tickets are not sold on buses, but must be bought in advance
at train stations, tobacco shops, news agents or bars and then convalidated on the vehicle.
The lectures will take place in room D, in SISSA Main building. Just reach SISSA from the main entrance at Via Beirut 2, and you will be (almost) there.
