Research interests
Hi, I am a biochemist working on the other side of the bench. In the group of Prof. Alessandro Laio I develop approaches for high dimensional feature selection, an important step in data analysis, especially when the data are big in the "wrong" direction: Relatively few data points are outnumbered by many features. Our main idea is: The data lie on a complex manifold in high dimensions and its topology holds all the information about the system. We attempt to represent this topology faithfully in less dimensions. I am mainly interested in biological applications. I work with COVID data and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation trajectories.
Previously I studied the human serotonin transporter (hSERT) using MD simulations, and the splicing factor, proline- and glutamine rich (SFPQ) using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and classical biophysical wet lab methods such as CD spectroscopy.
