SISSA’s areas of physics and mathematics are among the 350 departments from 58 Italian State Universities which can participate in the call for the future 180 department of excellence for 2023-2027. Both areas ranked with full marks according to the Standardized Index of Departmental Performance (ISPD) calculated by the National agency for the evaluation of universities and research institutes (ANVUR).
“This is a very flattering result,” Andrea Romanino, SISSA Director, comments. “We are very pleased that both areas have been admitted to the selection process with top marks. It couldn’t have gone better: SISSA’s third area, unfortunately, could not compete because of its small size. The areas are already working on the proposals.”
The deadline for submission is set to 16 September 2022. Results of the selection process will be published by 31 December 2022.
