From archaeology to economic growth, via animal intelligence. But also from the challenges of scientific communication to space and the fight against malaria: full of fascinating topics, the journey on the roads of science, the on-the-road adventure on unknown roads, in search of new and unexpected crossroads, is back. Starting today, the new edition of Sidecar will be available on the main podcast distribution platforms in a completely renewed format.

The popularisation project, pioneered last year by the GSSI (Gran Sasso Science Institute) in L'Aquila, will this year see the participation of SISSA.

Guided by lecturers and experts from various disciplines such as economics, medicine, computer science, biology, and physics, we will travel through scientific curiosities and topical subjects, with a common destination: to overcome rigid and overly academic definitions, in search of shared knowledge.

In each episode of the podcast, lasting about 30 minutes, GSSI and SISSA lecturers will accompany listeners in exploring a field of study far from their own. They will do so by interviewing experts from other prestigious institutions, both Italian and foreign, ideally drawn together for a fantastic adventure in the Sidecar.

The travellers on board, again this year, are names known to the general public and great exponents of the scientific scene. The director of Cern, Fabiola Gianotti, the director of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, Christian Greco, astrophysicist Roberto Battiston, neuroscientist Giorgio Vallortigara, economist Michele Boldrin and many others will be on board.

Released every fortnight, the podcast will kick off with the first episode 'Zanzare Killer' (Killer Mosquitoes), where GSSI Physicist Fernando Ferroni interviews Pietro Alano from Istituto Superiore di Sanità. The first podcast will be available from 15 September at 12 noon. The second episode “Is it science or fake?” with Barbara Gallavotti and Andrea Maselli will be online from 29 September. The first podcasts will be followed by the one with the Director of CERN Fabiola Gianotti in dialogue with the GSSI economist Alessandra Faggian entitled "The emotion of discovery" online from 13 October.

The podcast will be available on major podcast platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Agora, AntennaPod, BeyondPod, Breaker, Bullhorn, Castro, Deezer, DoggCatcher, Downcast, gPodder, Himalaya, iCatcher, iHeartRadio, Instacast Core, Laughable iOS, Luminary, MediaGo, MediaMonkey, NPR One, OkDownload, Opera, Outcast, Overcast Pandora, Player FM, Pocket Casts,Podbean, Podcast Addict, Podcast Republic, Podcoin, PodCruncher, Podkicker, Radio Public, Roku, RSSRadio, Sonos, Swoot, The Podcast.
