SAGA (a global UNESCO project with the support of Sida) aims to contribute to improving the situation of women and reducing the gender gap in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields in all countries at all levels of education and research. A distinguishing feature of SAGA is its focus on data. Some of its core methodologies are determination, measurement and assessesment of sex-disaggregated data.

On Wednesday 26 April a seminar organized by SISSA will present the initiative. The SAGA team has discussed staging a pilot survey on gender issues in science at SISSA. In this meeting all participants are invited to discuss the development of this survey, and other data collection methods. Speakers include Kim Deslandes (SAGA Research and statistical assistant), Alice Abreu (Director of GenderInSITE), Emine Kucukbenli and Anna Menini (SISSA), and Anna Gregorio (University of Trieste). The event will take place at SISSA in room 005, ground floor, starting from 10.00 am. Everybody is welcome.

More information on the SAGA project
