Thanks to scientific research, now and increasingly in the future, human beings can use smart drugs and technological devices to enhance their cognitive abilities. These high expectations are offset by equally high concerns about health and ethics. In the framework of the European Commission NERRI project, the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) of Trieste and the Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences (TLS) in Siena are organizing, at the MACRO Museum in Rome, a round table to discuss and inform the public about the present and future of neuroenhancement. The conference, held by leading international experts on the subject, is free, open to all, and will be held in English.
Grazie alla ricerca scientifica oggi l’essere umano ha la possibilità di potenziare le proprie facoltà cognitive, con smart drugs e dispositivi tecnologici, e ancora di più potrà farlo nel futuro. Questa enorme aspettativa è controbilanciata da altrettanto timore, sia sul piano della salute che su quello etico. Nell’ambito del progetto NERRI della Commissione Europea, la Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) di Trieste e la Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences (TLS) di Siena organizzano al Museo MACRO di Roma una tavola rotonda dove discutere e coinvolgere il pubblico sul presente e il futuro del potenziamento cognitivo. La conferenza, alla quale parteciperanno esperti internazionali sull’argomento è gratuita, aperta al pubblico e si terrà in inglese.
