Electrons in slow motion

Here’s how to see the “fastest slow process”

At the origin of the properties of high-temperature superconductors lies a phenomenon that is too fast to be observed experimentally with conventional methods. A team of scientists from different research centres (including the Milan Polytechnic, SISSA in Trieste, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, the University of British Columbia and many others) has applied a sophisticated experimental technique, something like a moviola film-editing system, to slow down and analyse the structure of the process, thereby improving knowledge of these materials and bringing their technological applications a step closer. The study has been published in the journal Nature Physics.

La ricerca è stata pubblicata sulla rivista Nature Physics.
