ESOF: Toulouse passes the torch to Trieste

On July 14 Trieste will officially receive the mandate to organize the next EuroScience Open Forum edition in 2020! 
The ceremony will take place  in the frame of ESOF2018 Toulouse.  
ESOF is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. It is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and offers a unique framework for interaction and debate for scientists, innovators, policy makers, business people and the general public. 

The skilled tailor that coordinates the "snip and stitch" of genetic information

A sophisticated atomic-level computer simulation has allowed researchers from SISSA and the National Research Centre (CNR-IOM - Institute for Materials Manufacturing) to shed light, for the first time, on the function of an important biological system called spliceosome, which works as a highly skilled tailor. The spliceosome is composed of 5 filaments of RNA and hundreds of proteins.

Stampacchia Medal to SISSA Professor Guido De Philippis

Guido De Philippis has won the Gold medal “Guido Stampacchia”. The prize awards under 35 scientists who have carried out significant research in the field of Variational Analysis and Applications. The Prize is announced every three years by “International School of Mathematics “Guido Stampacchia”, part of the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for ScientiIic Culture, and the Mathematics Italian Union (Unione Matematica Italiana).
