This multi and
interdisciplinary conference is fostered and sponsored by several
international organisations.
Participation of over 100 researchers from Central and Eastern Europe
and at
least 50 official speakers is planned.
The main
purposes
of this multi and interdisciplinary conference are

to gather
former and current Alexander von Humboldt
fellows from Italy and Central European countries, as well as
representatives of the von Humboldt Foundation, Bonn
-
to
analyse forthcoming trends in several advanced fields of research
-
to
overcome the separation between natural and human sciences by
highlighting mutual and overlapping connections and to create a
platform for international exchange of ideas and methods
-
to
improve scientific cooperation between the cultural and research
institutions which make up the "Trieste System" and similar
institutions in Central and Eastern Europe
