POR FESR 2014-2020

POR FESR 2014-2020 is a European funding programme aiming to strengthen research and to foster technology and innovation advancement.

The programme purposes include the collaboration among research and enterprises, towards innovation and environmental sustainability.

The projects sustained by the POR FESR funds between the years 2014 and 2020 are frequently updated.

SISSA is partner of some of POR FESR 2014 – 2020 projects: SOPHYA, PRELICA, UBE2, and ARES

SOPHYA (Seakeeping Of Planing Hull YAchts) is focused on Maritime Technologies, with the aim to improve the energy performance of the boat and of the comfort on board. New prediction technologies, simulation and modelling will be applied to ameliorate seakindliness, safety and energy performance. The sea-going performance of motor-powered pleasure craft is related to the state of the sea. But the correlation is not always easily predictable with the traditional methods. The Mathlab research team is partner of this initiative, started on 10th April 2017 with a budget of 1.332.380,30 €.

PRELICA is an acronym to indicate the “Advanced methodologies for hydro-acoustic design of naval propulsion”. The PRELICA project has been developed to improve both on-board comfort and the environmental impact during navigation.
The Mathlab research group will be committed to reach the aims of this project for 21 months. Modelling applications and algorithms optimizations will be at the basis of the research program. The combination of these methods will be crucial to accurately predict the hydro-acoustic emissions of the propeller, including variables frequently ignored.
Project started on 1st May 2017, with a budget of 1.004.401,71 €.

UBE 2is an acronym to indicate "Underwater Blue Efficiency 2". UBE 2 project, which started on 1 December 2018, is led by Monte Carlo Yachts S.p.A. Ube 2 is co-founded by Fondo Europeo per lo Sviluppo Regionale. The final goal of the project l is to deeply understand the physical vibratory phenomenon  and to get a ship design method that can mitigate or stop it. The project duration is 30 months with financial support in the amount of 587.127.26 Euros.

ARESis an acronym to indicate "Against Brain Cancer: Finding Personalized Therapies with in Silico and in Vitro Strategies". ARES project is co-founded by Fondo Europeo per lo Sviluppo Regionale. The total budget is 1.085.821,19 euro. The project is co-funded by POR FESR 2014 – 2020 with 833.432,93. The final goal of the project is to develop an innovative approach for therapy and treatment of Glioblastoma (GBM), one of the more aggressive tumors in the human brain.
