There are words that convey a meaning, like verbs, nouns or adjectives, and others, like articles or conjunctions that sustain them, providing a structure for the sentence. A few years ago some scientists of the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) of Trieste, together with collaborators from other Universities, showed that the order of the two categories of words within a sentence is important for language acquisition in infants already in their first year of life.
Today a study, carried out by the same SISSA scientists, shows that also adults have similar preferences. A phenomenon that may help understanding the differences between how children and adults learn.
Ci sono parole che portano un significato, come i verbi, i nomi o gli aggettivi, e altre, come articoli o congiunzioni, che le supportano, dando una struttura alla frase. Alcuni anni fa alcuni scienziati della Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) di Trieste insieme a collaboratori di altre università, hanno dimostrato che l'ordine in cui i due tipi di parole si trovano all'interno di una frase è importante per l'acquisizione del linguaggio nei bambini, già nel primo anno di vita. Ora uno studio, anche questo con la partecipazione degli stessi scienziati della SISSA, mostra che anche gli adulti hanno preferenze simili. Un fenomeno che può aiutare a capire le differenze nell'apprendimento di una lingua tra bambini e adulti.
