The internationally known scientist Noam Chomsky received on 17th September an honorary PhD in Neuroscience from the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste. During his visit, the scientist held a Lectio Magistralis with the title "The minimalist program and language acquisition" in the Main Lecture Hall of the school.
On the same day, in the afternoon, Chomsky held a public lecture with the title "The Emerging World Order: its roots, our legacy". The event took place at Politeama Rossetti at 5.30 p.m. and it was addressed to anyone who was interested. The lecture was simultaneously translated into Italian.
Attendance of the public lecture was free of charge but online registration at the URL www.sissa.it/chomsky was required.

Noam Chomsky, linguista di fama internazionale ha ricevuto lo scorso 17 settembre il titolo di PhD honoris causa in Neuroscienze dalla Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) di Trieste. In occasione della visita lo scienziato ha tenuto una Lectio Magistralis dal titolo "The minimalist program and language acquisition" nell'Aula Magna della scuola.
Nel pomeriggio dello stesso giorno Chomsky ha tenuto anche un intervento pubblico dal titolo "The Emerging World Order: its roots, our legacy" (Il nuovo ordine mondiale: le sue radici, la nostra eredità). L'evento ha abuto luogo presso il Politeama Rossetti alle ore 17.30 ed era rivolto alla cittadinanza. La conferenza è stata tradotta simultaneamente in italiano.
La partecipazione alla conferenza pubblica era gratuita ma era obbligatorio registrarsi online all'indirizzo www.sissa.it/chomsky.
