Arriving by plane

The Trieste Ronchi airport is about 25km north-west of Trieste. It is connected to the city centre by public transport via the APT coach service – Line 51. Tickets are available from the blue machine just beyond the arrivals gate (cost 4.00 €). Tickets for the return journey must be purchased in advance, from the bus station close to Trieste Centrale train station. This service runs much less frequently at weekends.
A good option, especially at weekends, is to book a seat on the Science Bus shuttle service, connecting Trieste to all the nearest major airports – Ronchi, Treviso, Marco Polo and Brnik (Ljubliana). Your seat on the Science Bus must be booked online at least two days in advance. For your online booking ask us for the voucher code in the form.

A taxi from Ronchi to Trieste will be around 50 €, with a surcharge for luggage, and takes 30-40 minutes. Renting a car at the airport is also an option.

The Venice Airports (Marco Polo and Treviso) are further options to come to Trieste. From there you will need to take the coach service (tickets available from the ATVO service desk at the airport foyer) to Venezia Mestre train station and continue on with the train to Trieste Centrale (the journey takes from one and a half to two hours).
