Stefano Ruffo is appointed member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the ESI

The Kollegium of the Research Centre Erwin Schroedinger Institute (ESI) at the University of Vienna together with the current chair of the Board Prof. Helge Holden has asked Stefano Ruffo, the SISSA’s Director, to become a member of the Scientific Advisory Board [SAB] of the ESI. Upon his acceptance, the Rektor of ESI, Professor Engl, of the University of Vienna has officially appointed professor Ruffo (officially from January 2016). The Research Centre is succeeding the independent Institute with the same name founded in 1993. The initial appointment to the Advisory Board is for a period of three years (2016 - 2018) and may be extended by mutual consent to a secondterm of three years.

The duties of the board members are, among others, to assess the program proposals submitted to the ESI, to point out interesting scientific developments in the area of
Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, and to suggest topics and possible organizers for future activities of the Institute and to review - and criticize - the scientific performance of the Institute during the past year and to make suggestions for possible improvements. Since January 2016 the Institute carries the name Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematics and Physics, also to reflect the extension of the scope of its scientific activities.
