SALAMANCA
MANKIND HERITAGE

SALAMANCA is a medium sized city, located about 200 km. west from Madrid (at two and a half hours coach time) and 100 km. east from the Portuguese border. Salamanca lies beside the river Tormes, as a silent witness and romantic reminder of an ancient history. The Roman bridge, the two cathedrals, the Main Square, the University and plenty of churches and old buildings draw at sunset the shape of a tall forest of towers.

The University of Salamanca is one of the oldest universities in Europe, together with Bologna and Paris. Lots of students at both Civil and Catholic universities add colour, rhythm and life to the ancient stones.
