On 17 May, starting at 2 p.m., an entire afternoon to discover our university. At our campus in via Bonomea 265, there will be many activities for young and adults: guided tours, talks, a discussion game on artificial intelligence, visits to laboratories, dialogues with researchers, and activities for children from 0 years of age.</p><p>At 5 p.m., in SISSA's Aula Magna Paolo Budinich, the afternoon will continue with ‘Da Margherita a oggi: verso una scienza inclusive.’ In a dialogue between Marilù Casini, founder of the "PhDISAGIO" community created to make science inclusive, gender-balanced and queer, and science journalist Federica Sgorbissa, the theme of diversity and inclusion in science will be discussed. This will be followed by the screening of "Una Margherita a Trieste," a documentary that provides a portrait of Margherita Hack through stories from those who were close to her in Trieste, showing the character and passions of an extraordinary scientist beyond conventions.</p><p>At 6 p.m., in the same SISSA Aula Magna, the theatrical event "Parl(IA)moci - Impossible dialogue between Alma and Gustav Mahler, featuring an actress and ChatGPT," will take place. In this experimental performance, ChatGPT 'plays' Gustav Mahler in an improvised theatrical dialogue with Alma (Diana Höbel), exploring their tumultuous relationship. An experience that fuses theatre, music, and technology, seeking to capture the historical 'truth' of their relationship. Andrea Gambassi and Roberto Trotta will introduce the event. An aperitif will conclude this shared afternoon.</p><p> </p><p>For guided tours of SISSA and the laboratories, the meeting "From Margherita to today: towards inclusive science," and the show "Parl(IA)moci," reservation is required. Diversity means that variety of viewpoints that makes the world more interesting and freer, but which also concerns research and trust in it.</p><p>Under the artistic direction of writer Paolo Giordano, the eighth edition will be a six-day programme of meetings, dialogues, experiential events, and a vast focus on scientific books. But also shows, films, tastings, and workshops for adults and children. An ambitious programme that will also involve theatres and bookshops, schools, libraries, cafés and places new to the Festival, such as the Casa Circondariale Ernesto Mari in Trieste.</p><p>Among the guests attending the festival will be writers Chiara Valerio and Olivia Laing, psychotherapist Stefania Andreoli and journalist Cecilia Sala, who will dialogue with Paolo Giordano in three different encounters. Harvard astrophysicist Lisa Randall will be interviewed by Barbara Gallavotti in an event promoted with the ICTP-International Centre for Theoretical Physics "Abdus Salam".</p><p>The program will also include writers Claudia Durastanti and Federica Manzon, science communicators Gabriella Greison and Massimo Polidoro, LUISS University Rector Andrea Prencipe, and journalist Massimo Sideri. The initiative is launched by eucu.net – the European Network of Children’s Universities. Children's Universities provide a crucial bridge between academia and the younger generation, promote open and constructive dialogue between the youngest and the scientists, and help ensure that children's needs and perspectives are not overlooked in the rapidly changing world.</p><p>With the SISSA for Schools program, dedicated to schools of all levels and active for more than a decade, SISSA is actively involved in this movement and is a partner in the international network eucu.net (<a href="https://eucu.net/">https://eucu.net/</a>), which brings together Children's Universities from around the world.</p><p>On April 11, to celebrate the International Day of Children's Universities, SISSA is offering a special session of SISSA for Schools aimed at two classes from the Alessandro Volta High School in Trieste. Students will be guided by Meriem Behiri, a doctoral student in astrophysics and cosmology at SISSA, to discover "Signals from Deep Space." After the seminar, the students will have the opportunity to visit the building accompanied by exceptional guides: the actual researchers at SISSA. A valuable opportunity to interact directly with people who do science on a daily basis, discovering what it means to study and do research in an international academic environment.</p><p>SISSA for Schools is not limited to April 11: throughout the school year it offers students of all ages a unique opportunity to get close to science through seminars, games and interactive activities. The visits take place every Thursday morning and involve hundreds of students each year, ranging from math to physics, neuroscience to data science. They are designed and implemented by volunteer SISSA researchers, with coordination by SISSA Medialab staff. The visits are in high demand and each year the calendar fills up within minutes of opening, usually in June. </p><p>To stay up-to-date on the activities SISSA offers to schools, one can subscribe to the SISSA for Schools newsletter: <a href="https://bit.ly/S4Snewsletter">https://bit.ly/S4Snewsletter</a>. </p><p>Learn more about International Children's Universities Day: <a href="https://eucu.net/idcu/">https://eucu.net/idcu/</a>.</p></div><div class="field field--type-datetime field--name-field-publication-date field--entity-node field--label-hidden field--view-mode-rss"><time datetime="2024-04-05T07:48:43Z">5 April 2024</time></div><div class="field field--type-string field--name-field-subtitle field--entity-node field--label-hidden field--view-mode-rss"> The initiative is launched by eucu.net – the European Network of Children’s Universities.</div><div class="field field--type-list-string field--name-field-press-release field--entity-node field--label-above field--view-mode-rss"><div>Press release</div><div>Yes, full press release (con pdf allegato)</div></div><div class="field field--type-entity-reference field--name-field-media-slideshow-images field--entity-node field-multiple field--label-above field--view-mode-rss"><div>Slideshow images</div><div><div><div><div class="field field--type-image field--name-field-media-image field--entity-media field--label-visually-hidden field--view-mode-default"><div class="visually-hidden">Immagine</div><div><img loading="lazy" src="/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/2024-04/1140x300%20s4s.png?itok=-3Hnqu0t" width="820" height="180" alt="S4S Screenshot" class="image-style-large"></div></div></div></div></div></div><div class="field field--type-entity-reference field--name-field-media-image field--entity-node field--label-hidden field--view-mode-rss"><div><div class="field field--type-image field--name-field-media-image field--entity-media field--label-visually-hidden field--view-mode-default"><div class="visually-hidden">Immagine</div><div><img loading="lazy" src="/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/2024-04/820x180%20s4s.png?itok=NVoSiNZS" width="820" height="180" alt="Sissa 4 Schools" class="image-style-large"></div></div></div></div><div class="field field--type-boolean field--name-field-add-to-slideshow field--entity-node field--label-above field--view-mode-rss"><div>Add to slideshow</div><div>On</div></div> Fri, 05 Apr 2024 07:48:42 +0000 atavecch 25494 at https://www.sissa.it SISSA takes part in the first edition of the International Day of Children's Universities https://www.sissa.it/news/una-giornata-ateneo-bambine-bambini-sissa-di-trieste-partecipa-alla-prima-edizione <span>SISSA takes part in the first edition of the International Day of Children&#039;s Universities </span> <span><span>atavecch</span></span> <span><time datetime="2024-04-05T09:48:42+02:00" title="Friday, April 5, 2024 - 09:48">Fri, 04/05/2024 - 09:48</time> </span> <div class="field field--type-text-with-summary field--name-body field--entity-node field--label-hidden field--view-mode-rss"><p>April 11 will be the first edition of the International Day of Children's Universities, a day dedicated to universities that, feeling a duty of greater commitment to the younger generation, systematically offer outreach activities and programs for kids and teenagers such as guided tours, seminars, workshops, exhibitions and fairs. </p><p>Learn more about International Children's Universities Day: <a href="https://eucu.net/idcu/">https://eucu.net/idcu/</a>.</p></div><div class="field field--type-datetime field--name-field-publication-date field--entity-node field--label-hidden field--view-mode-rss"><time datetime="2024-04-05T07:48:43Z">5 April 2024</time></div><div class="field field--type-string field--name-field-subtitle field--entity-node field--label-hidden field--view-mode-rss"> The initiative is launched by eucu.net – the European Network of Children’s Universities.</div><div class="field field--type-list-string field--name-field-press-release field--entity-node field--label-above field--view-mode-rss"><div>Press release</div><div>Yes, full press release (con pdf allegato)</div></div><div class="field field--type-entity-reference field--name-field-media-slideshow-images field--entity-node field-multiple field--label-above field--view-mode-rss"><div>Slideshow images</div><div><div><div><div class="field field--type-image field--name-field-media-image field--entity-media field--label-visually-hidden field--view-mode-default"><div class="visually-hidden">Immagine</div><div><img loading="lazy" src="/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/2024-04/1140x300%20s4s.png?itok=-3Hnqu0t" width="820" height="180" alt="S4S Screenshot" class="image-style-large"></div></div></div></div></div></div><div class="field field--type-entity-reference field--name-field-media-image field--entity-node field--label-hidden field--view-mode-rss"><div><div class="field field--type-image field--name-field-media-image field--entity-media field--label-visually-hidden field--view-mode-default"><div class="visually-hidden">Immagine</div><div><img loading="lazy" src="/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/2024-04/820x180%20s4s.png?itok=NVoSiNZS" width="820" height="180" alt="Sissa 4 Schools" class="image-style-large"></div></div></div></div><div class="field field--type-boolean field--name-field-add-to-slideshow field--entity-node field--label-above field--view-mode-rss"><div>Add to slideshow</div><div>On</div></div> Fri, 05 Apr 2024 07:48:42 +0000 atavecch 25494 at https://www.sissa.it
