SISSA’s NeuroMicronica project – winner of the Start Cup 2015 regional award and the PNICube prize and shortlisted for the Start Cup 2015 national award – has received an ERC Proof of Concept Grant, designed to support ERC grantees with the commercial or societal application of the results of their funded research. the new grant, obtained thanks to the collaboration of multidisciplinary groups working at SISSA, adds to the long list of grants awarded to SISSA by the ERC.
Giuseppe Legname, professor of the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), has been recently appointed as Editorial Board member for the Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC).
The JBC is one of the oldest peer-reviewed scientific journals covering thematic areas such as biochemistry and molecular biology. It was established in 1905 and since 1925, it is published by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Neurofeedback is a technique used for the treatment of clinical disorders (like depression, anxiety, chronic pain, ADHD and schizophrenia etc.) and enhancement of brain performance. It is based on the “self-regulation” of brain activations underpinned by the principles of feedback control systems. Feedback systems can be found in areas such as cybernetics, industrial automation, quality control, optimization and so on.
The Inauguration of the academic year 2016/2017 of the SISSA/ICTP Master in High Performance Computing will be held in the Miramare Campus (via Beirut 4, Trieste) on September the 19th, 2016. 10 Students from all over the world are about to begin their training in Supercomputing.
Quantification of Uncertainty: Improving Efficiency and Technology - is focused on the review of recent algorithmic and mathematical advances and the development of new research directions for uncertainty quantification in the setting of partial differential equations with random inputs. As such, the workshop impacts the scientific, engineering, financial, economic, environmental, social, and commercial milieus.
