RNA-based drugs to help against Dravet Syndrome. New funding for Prof. Mallamaci’s lab

“We are using an experimental approach based on a set of RNA drugs we recently developed in our lab. The aim of this new project is to cast light on specific aspects of this method which still need to be clarified, along a pathway which – in the future – might turn this approach into a cure for patients suffering from Dravet Syndrome”.

The appointment with "Scienza e Virgola" is back. Organized by the Master in Science Communication "Franco Prattico" (MCS), the event will be an opportunity to deepen themes addressed by popular science books and to meet their authors.

Student Day 2017

SISSA awaits more than 500 students in the final two years period of high school. The Student Day is dedicated to young people who are deciding the future of their studies. Students can move independently in the School and attend seminars, conferences, interactive workshops, meetings with researchers, creating their own path in a personalized way.

FARE fundings for three SISSA scientists

Time maps, reading patterns, innovative numerical methods in fluidodynamics. These are the topics of the research projects led by Domenica Bueti, Davide Crepaldi and Gianluigi Rozza at SISSA that were just awarded by FARE – Framework per l’Attrazione e il Rafforzamento delle Eccellenze per la Ricerca in Italia. These fundings represent vital additional supports for ERC - European Research Council grant holders based in Italy. Three out of fifty projects awarded are carried out at SISSA: two in neuroscience, one in mathematics, for a total budget of 640,000 Euros.

SISSA and IBM: "The world is our lab"

“The world is our lab” is the title of the seminar held at the International School for Advanced Studies - SISSA of Trieste by Alessandro Curioni, director of IBM Research - Zurich and vice-Chairman of IBM Europe. This recent meeting launched the collaboration between SISSA and IBM. Local scientific institutions such as the University of Trieste, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, Area Science Park, ICTP, OGS Trieste also participated in the round table organised during the event.
