In 2006 I received my Master degree in Biology from Trieste University and the same year I started a PhD in Functional and Structural Genomics at SISSA, in the Prion Biology Laboratory.
In January 2009 I was given the opportunity to start a collaboration with Prof. Dotti, with whom I am since working in Belgium, in the Laboratory of Neuronal Differentiation at Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven.
My research interests are focused on the cellular biology of PrPC, the endogenous form of the prion protein. The aim of my PhD project is to go into deeper detail about the function of PrPC. I chose primary neuronal cultures as in vitro systems to address my studies.
In my free time I love running, in recent years I ran several half-marathons.
I think scientific research and running have a common characteristic: the need of perseverance.
