Food
A non comprehensive list of Restaurants
This list is limited to the knowledge of organisers. There may be
other nice places. Anyway Trieste is small: most places listed here
are at most one kilometer apart from each other. Most places are closed on Sundays.
Skip fish restaurants until the wind blows. Nobody has been fishing in
the last two weeks!
Close to "Residence Le Terrazze"
Close to "Residence del Mare"
- La Tavernetta, Via Madonna del Mare 2, Tel 040.308594. Good, but small.
Yous should book. Meat is very good.
- Trattoria da Mara, Via Vittoria Colonna 5, tel 3458598242. Typical food
from Friuli. Try "Frico" and "Cjarsons". Mara does everything by herself, she cooks and serves. Not for hurried persons.
- Buffet da Siora Rosa, Piazza Hortis 3. Very simple place. Typical food. Try "Jota" and "Caldaia".
- Città di Pisino,Via Alberto Boccardi 7, 040303706. Simple and a
bit rough, but fish is good. Affordable.
- Kapuziner Keller,
a bit of Bavaria in Trieste. Funny and nice.
- All'antica Ghiacceretta, Via dei Fornelli 2. I've not been since long,
but should be good and not too expensive. Fish.
- Al Bagatto, Via L. Cadorna 7. Very good but expensive.
- Modí, via Diaz 1. Fine, a bit expensive.
Other places around the city
- Buffet da Pepi (known as "Pepi sciavi" pronounce Pepee Stravo),
Via Cassa di Risparmio, 3. Typical, fast, noisy, small, and crowded. Worth a
try just to say I was there, especially if you like pork and beer.
Try "Porcina".
- Da Gigi, Via di Servola, 11. Very good fish at reasonable prices, but away from the center; take Bus N.8 southward from waterfront, some 15 stops.
- Scabar, Excellent fish, but quite expensive
and far (means 15 minutes) from the town center. Bus 34.
- Osteria de Scarpon
Affordable prices, preferably starters and first courses.
- Suban, via E. Comici 2/d.
Excellent meat, a bit expensive. Try "stinco"&;. 10 mins from
towncenter, bus 35.
