Once again it’s time for the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste to introduce itself and welcome its new arrivals, the students who are just starting on their PhD journey and the research fellows who will join the School’s research projects for the next few years. As in previous years, the Welcome Day will include talks, awards (including the “Bassoli Prize”) and the launch of the new “Talents” website, an online service that puts companies in touch with young scientists looking for positions outside the academic world. To end the day of celebrations, a guest lecture will be given by Malcolm Longair, the English physicist who worked at the Cavendish Laboratory of the University of Cambridge.
Anche quest’anno per la Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati SISSA di Trieste è arrivato il momento di presentarsi e dare il benvenuto ai nuovi arrivati, gli studenti che iniziano ora il loro percorso di dottorato e gli assegnisti che parteciperanno nei prossimi anni alle ricerche della Scuola. Durante il Welcome Day, come ogni anno, ci saranno interventi, premiazioni (fra cui quella del “Premio Bassoli”) e si inaugurerà il nuovo sito “Talents”, un servizio online che mette in contatto aziende e giovani scienziati in cerca di una professione fuori dall’accademia. A chiudere la giornata di festeggiamenti ci sarà la lectio magistralis di Malcom Longair, il fisico inglese che ha lavorato al Laboratorio Cavendish dell’Università di Cambridge.
