To facilitate cross-disciplinary training and exchanges, from this year courses offered within several curricula will be coordinated to allow all interested SISSA students to attend them, and familiarize with analytical and computational concepts and tools useful in understanding Biology and Neuroscience questions.

In the academic year 2010/2011, the coordination operates among faculty from the Neurobiology, Cognitive Neuroscience and Functional Analysis sectors, who in their classes will discuss a broad range of topics, including neuronal networks, information theory, dynamical systems, signal processing and sensory systems, according to the following schedule:

Neuronal Computation

Alessandro Treves, Cognitive Neuroscience Sector

Each Monday and Thursday @ 9 AM from Nov. 1 to Dec. 16
(please note that classes will be held @ 1 PM in the period Nov. 1-18)

See detailed schedule @ Cognitive Neuroscience PhD Courses web page
Syllabus can be download @ http://people.sissa.it/~ale/NeurCompCourse_2010.pdf

Dynamical models in Biology

Claudio Altafini, Functional Analysis Sector
