Osmizze
These are delightful little restaurants in which all produce is grown by the owners (mostly wine, cheese, ham, boiled eggs). A few are to be found in the outskirts of Trieste but they are mostly found in the Carso - so you'll need a car to reach them. You can monitor the the opening dates (for a few weeks each year) of each Osmizza by reading "Il Piccollo", Trieste's local newspaper. The following very handy website also gives the names and addresses of all currently open Osmizze. They can be very busy at weekends when the weather is fine - so book ahead!
